Other South East Homes

More and more Alfred Faber designs are being discovered in areas to the north of Richmond. Some are proven from historic newspaper accounts, others are established by architectural details. They are spread over a substantial area.

11906 SE 19th Ave - This suburban home facing the Willamette River was featured in an article in The Oregonian on July 19, 1914, as one of Alfred Faber's designs. The home was built for Arthur C. Heintz, who paid some $5300 for its construction. It featured a living room with "Santo Domingo mahogany" and a dining room and den paneled in oak.

2936 SE Taylor Street - Originally believed to have been a Faber design due to the stone porch, we now know that this house was designed by Phillipe Carlander and built by his construction partner A. Rice and Son Builders. This house was built for Harvey Scott, Jr., son of one of the founders of The Oregonian, and an important Portland citizen in his own right.
